With the Easter holidays fast approaching, Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille is encouraging South Africans to explore the country. De Lille launched the Easter Sho’t Left campaign by hosting a quad biking activation in Cape Town on Monday, 7 April.
South Africans urged to support tourism sector
De Lille launched the Easter campaign with an activation at Twin Venture at the Atlantis Dunes in Cape Town. The company specialises in quad biking and sandboarding experiences.
According to SA News, the event aimed to showcase the diversity of experiences travelers can enjoy here in South Africa. Business representatives, industry associations, members of the media and content creators were invited to attend, with the latter taking to social media to promote the experience.
At the Easter holidays campaign launch, De Lille emphasised that the travel industry needs both international and domestic tourism in order to thrive. She also encouraged South Africans to visit small towns.
“Every night spent in a guesthouse, every meal at a local restaurant and every souvenir bought from a market contributes to our economy. By supporting local tourism, we ensure that the benefits of travel extend beyond major cities promoting inclusive economic growth,” De Lille said.
