Parts of Johannesburg will experience low pressure or no water for 11 hours because Eskom will conduct maintenance at the Daleside Substation.
The substation supplies power to Rand Water’s Daleside Pumping Station which supplies some of Johannesburg Water’s Deep South systems, namely, Ennerdale, Orange Farm, and Lawley Reservoirs.
ESKOM MAINTENANCE TO DISRUPT JOHANNESBURG WATER SUPPLY
The maintenance is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 April, from 7:00 – 18:00.
Johannesburg Water previously said that during this maintenance, there would be no pumping at Daleside for eight hours. During both maintenance, customers will experience poor pressure to no water.
In addition, residents were also urged to store water ahead of the planned maintenance and to use alternative means like rain water harvesting to store rainwater for non-consumption use.

Residents in the following parts of Johannesburg will experience poor pressure and no water due to Eskom’s maintenance:
- Ennerdale South
- Ennerdale extensions
- Finetown
- Grasmere
- Lawley
- Orange Farm
- Drieziek
- Lakeside
- Stretford
RAND WATER MAINTENANCE SUCCESSFUL
Meanwhile, Rand Water said the urgent infrastructure maintenance at the Zuikerbosch Treatment Plant was successful.
The maintenance was conducted on Thursday, 3 April, and saw the Palmiet Station operating at 89% for eight and a half hours and affected over 100 suburbs.
The Palmiet System supplies water to Johannesburg Water’s to:
- Alexander Park Reservoir (all reservoirs and towers)
- Midrand System (all reservoirs and towers)
- Sandton Systems (all reservoirs and towers)
- South Hills Tower
