Moeneeb Josephs names two ideal signings for Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates legend Moeneeb Josephs has named two players he feels would be ideal signings for the club.

With the current campaign drawing to a close, clubs across the country will be expected to beef up their squads.

And Josephs is of the view that Pirates would do well if they can bring in both Oswin Appollis and Fawaaz Basadien.

These are two Bafana Bafana internationals who have shown potential for Polokwane City and Stellies respectively.

Now, Josephs feels Appollis would fit in well at Pirates, especially if Relebohile Mofokeng moves to Europe.

As things stand, Pirates could lose a few of their veteran defenders in Innocent Maela and Olisa Ndah as per local media reports.

And perhaps Basadien would be the ideal replacement for either of the two in the new season for Pirates.

MOENEEB JOSEPHS WANTS APPOLLIS AND BASADIEN AT ORLANDO PIRATES

“If you look at Appollis and Basadien, I think they can be quality signings for Orlando Pirates, which is competing on the African continent [CAF Champions League],” Josephs said on the Soccer Beat podcast as per FARPost.

“If you’re going to compete at that level, you need depth, a player like Basadien who’s been consistent throughout this season. So I think he’ll be a great signing and add something to the team, he has qualities, can take set pieces, and has the engine to go up and down the flank.

“When you look at a player like Appollis, it will be a top signing if Relebohile Mofokeng gets a move to Europe, because he has to move to bigger and better things.

“So, with Appollis, if we sign him, he looks very active as a 10 and as a false 9. He is effective on the right and left side, but we can use him in the 10 position where Kabelo Dlamini and Patrick Maswanganyi play. The signing will add a little more competition in that position.”
