Orlando Pirates to replace Jose Riveiro with a fitness coach?

The Orlando Pirates coach posting is one of the most coveted roles in African soccer. And the club isn’t short of world-class candidates with Pitso Mosimane and Rhulani Mokwena among the top candidates.

But the latest reports suggest the Buccaneers are looking in-house, namely strength and conditioning coach Carlos Nodar Paz.

“He (Paz) is very capable as a coach, that’s what I can tell you, and that’s why the coach went to fetch him from where he was,” a source said.

“He is part of the coach’s (Riveiro’s) success this season, and his work is recognised and appreciated,” the source added.

Riveiro’s departure will conclude his three-year reign at Orlando Pirates, during which he’s won five trophies, restoring the club to winning ways. The Spanish coach could add more to his title tally as they remain in contention for the Champions League, Nedbank Cup and PSL.

Winger inbound?

Orlando Pirates remain persistent for AmaZulu expert Tshepang Moremi, and will reportedly table an offer in the offseason.

“The club is also keen to sign Moremi for next season, and negotiations have already started,” Kick Off confirmed.

Another player on their radar is Gallants forward Junior Zundigo. “The boy has been impressive, and Pirates are one of the clubs monitoring him,” SoccerLaduma stated. “His physical presence upfront and his high work-rate have made him a standout.”

Who should Orlando Pirates’ next manager be?
