Orlando Pirates will change their venue when they host Pyramids FC of Egypt in the first leg of the CAF Champions League next Friday.
The Buccaneers were supposed to host the Egyptian giants at the Orlando Stadium but would have to move the fixture to the FNB Stadium. According to FARPost, this is because Grace Bible Church has an Easter conference at the Orlando Stadium.
Venue change for Orlando Pirates
“Grace Bible Church, a prominent megachurch based in Soweto, is set to host a three-day Easter conference at Orlando Stadium. The event, which kicks off on Friday, 18 April, until Sunday, 20 April, will coincide with the Buccaneers’ scheduled game against Pyramids. As a result, the Bucs will use the FNB Stadium for the match, as the conference was booked before the fixture’s confirmation,” the publication wrote.
This is not the first time Orlando Pirates had to change venue this season. In March, the Sea Robbers hosted Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium, where they won 2-1 in a Betway Premeirship. Jose Riveiro’s men also played a match at the Calabash against Kaizer Chiefs, winning 1-0 in February.
While it might not be an ideal home ground for the Buccaneers, FNB Stadium could mean more fans for the Happy People.
