Will Bulls bid farewell to top star for good?

Last year it was confirmed that the Bulls had granted Springbok and Bulls speedster Kurt-Lee Arendse the opportunity to take up a ‘short-term’ deal with the Mitsubishi Dynaboars in Japan.

“This deal is life-changing for him. We can’t be selfish – it’s about making a real impact on his life,” Bulls CEO Edgar Rathbone said at the time.

Since heading to Japan, Arendse has made an immediate impact in an environment that clearly suits him well, with the Springbok star scoring seven tries in 12 matches.

According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, the 28-year-old speedster could now consider an early release from his contract at the Bulls, which was set to run until 2026.

Although Arendse has apparently not made a final decision, it would certainly not be surprising to see him remain in Japan.

The Bulls have missed the impact of Arendse

Although the Bulls are still in with a fighting chance in the URC, Jake White’s team will be disappointed to have crashed out of the EPCR Challenge Cup this past weekend.

The defeat for the men from Pretoria, who were the last remaining South African team in the European showpiece, dashed all hopes of a domestic team retaining the trophy, following the Sharks’ victory in the 2023/24 season.

DO YOU THINK KLR SHOULD STAY IN JAPAN OR RETURN TO SA?
