There’s no shortage of things to do in Joburg with your kids this weekend! The Easter Bunny has a starring role to play, but that’s not all South Africa’s biggest city has to offer families this weekend.
While everyone else battles busy roads and the cost of travel this Easter Weekend, you might decide you’re better off with a staycation in Joburg. And, with so many great activities, the next four days home with the kids needn’t be that kind of looong weekend.
Things to do at Joburg Zoo with Nickelodeon
Amid all the awesome things to do in Joburg with your kids this weekend, meeting SpongeBob stands out.
Nickelodeon is running a variety of activities at the Johannesburg Zoo for the Easter holidays. That includes Paw Patrol colouring time, a ball pit and face painting. There’s also the chance to win a Nickelodeon-themed party.

All things Easter Bunny at the Scoop Shop
We can’t talk about what’s on in Joburg for kids this Easter Weekend without mentioning the Easter Bunny. The beloved rabbit takes centre stage at the Scoop Shop at Eastgate Shopping Centre in Germiston. The ice cream shop will offer kids various bunny-themed toppings, including biscuit rabbit ears. There’s also face painting, arts and crafts, storytime and Build-a-Bunny workshops.

Easter egg hunt under the stars
A fun twist on the traditional Easter egg hunt, this event at Syringa Park is another great thing to do in Joburg this weekend. Kids should bring their own flashlights and hunt for their eggs in the darkening evening. Sounds like a fun adventure!

Rand Show delivers a humungous bouncing experience
Forget jumping castles — the Rand Show is introducing the Big Bounce, a bouncing zone the size of a rugby field!
Kids can also dive into an immersive ocean exhibition: think glow-in-the-dark tunnels and beach sand play zones. There’s so much going on at the Rand Show alone, you won’t run out of things to do in Joburg with your children.

Meet the Easter Bunny at Pocket Park
Of all the many things to do in Joburg, kids will probably love a classic Easter egg hunt the most. That’s what’s happening at Pocket Park in Carnival City, Boksburg. Searching for the chocolate treats takes place twice daily. There’s also face painting and photoshoots with the Easter Bunny.
