36-year-old European coach linked with Orlando Pirates move

Orlando Pirates face the daunting task of replacing serial trophy winning head coach Jose Riveiro.

Riveiro has handed in his resignation in Mayfair after a dream three-year spell at the club.

After winning five trophies, with three more up for grabs in his final two months in charge, the Spanish tactician undoubtedly leaves as an Orlando Pirates legend.

Now, the club have to focus on what comes next and reports suggest a number of top quality coaches are in contention to replace him.

Another Spanish coach could soon find himself replacing Jose Riveiro at Orlando Pirates!

According to Soccer Laduma, management at Buccaneers are seriously considering appointing 36-year-old Ferran Sibila as their next head coach.

Despite his young age, the Spanish mentor comes with bags of coaching experience in Europe.

He has taken charge of the likes of Finnish champions HJK Helsinki and IFK Goteborg.

He also held assistant coaching positions at English side Barnsley FC and Sweden’s GIF Sundsvall.

Currently, he’s the head coach of Swedish side IFK Varnamo who sit rock bottom of the top-flight after three games.

Sibila joins Rulani Mokwena, Pitso Mosimane and current fitness assistant coach Carlos Nodar Paz as the leading candidates for the Orlando Pirates head coaching vacancy.
