Trace Cyrus accuses Katy Perry of copying Miley’s career

The world of pop music has just been shaken by a fresh celebrity feud. Trace Cyrus, the outspoken brother of Miley Cyrus, has gone on a public rant accusing Katy Perry of copying his sister’s every move.

From haircuts to hip-hop collaborations, and even her recent trip to space.

TRACE CYRUS RANTS ABOUT KATY PERRY

Trace, 36, didn’t mince his words in a fiery Instagram video posted on Friday, according to US Weekly.

“I first knew Katy Perry and her team were lame when her career was first dying,” he said. “And they were like, ‘Hm, what can we do? Well, what worked for Miley?

She cut her hair off and it broke the internet and everyone freaked out and she bleached it blonde. We should do that with you, Katy.’”

KATY PERRY’S CAREER TRANSFORMATION

He went on to mock Perry’s transformation, recalling how Miley’s now-iconic pixie cut in 2013 made headlines.

“Should we do it slightly different? No, we’re gonna do it exactly the same,” Trace quipped, suggesting Perry’s 2017 chopped and bleached look was a copycat move.

But Trace didn’t stop at hairstyles. He argued that Katy Perry’s musical direction also mirrored Miley’s.

“Miley started working with Mike WiLL Made-It, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J—remember ‘J’s on my feet’? Started to transition doing more hip-hop stuff.

KATY PERRY AND MILEY COMPARISONS

‘We’re gonna get you in with the hottest group, the Migos.’ ‘You’re gonna do exactly what Miley did and blow up.’ Guess what? It didn’t work,” he ranted.

Trace even poked fun at Perry’s recent foray into EDM and her headline-grabbing spaceflight.

“Then they just tried some EDM song or some because EDM’s hot. Didn’t fing work. Now we’re gonna send your a to space. Didn’t fing work. It’s not working. It’s backfiring. Stop.”

THE BLUE ORIGIN SPACE TRIP

The pop star’s 11-minute Blue Origin space trip, which cost an estimated R3.8 million per ticket, has been both celebrated and criticised around the globe.

Katy Perry, 40, joined an all-female crew for the historic flight, returning to Earth and declaring, “Still processing this incredible journey.

Thank you @blueorigin and to my space sisters, taking up space AND making room in space for all.”

IMITATION AND FLATTERY

While Perry hasn’t responded to Trace’s accusations, the internet is buzzing. Some fans are defending her, while others are siding with Trace.

In the world of pop, imitation might be the sincerest form of flattery – but it’s also the quickest way to start a war.
