Today’s Kaizer Chiefs news wrap revolves around a potential new left-back and the latest Soweto Derby news.
Chiefs could bring Links back to the PSL
According to Innocent Mkhabela on X, Kaizer Chiefs are targeting the 26-year-old left-back Gift Links, who plays for Danish outfit Aarhus. Chiefs have experimented in that opposition since the departure of Sifiso Hlanti. Central defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe was used there before the club abruptly sold him to Libyan side Ittihad, while another central defender, Edmilson Dove, has also been used there. 24-year-old Bradley Cross is still finding his feet in the role.

Soweto Derby dates: Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates
As fate would have it, Pirates and Chiefs meet twice in quick succession at the sharp end of the 2024-2205 campaign. First, they do battle in the Betway Premiership on Saturday, 03 May at 15:00. Then, they meet in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday, 10 May.
MTN8 race still in the balance
With the news of Royal AM’s expulsion from the PSL, all points collected against them have become null and void. As a result, the revised table sees Chiefs sit on 30 points after 24 games. Chippa and Golden Arrows both pose a serious threat to their ambitions of a top-eight finish; the Chilli Boys are now level on points with the Glamour Boys and have a game in hand on Nabi’s men. Chiefs could only manage a 0-0 draw at Chippa on the most recent round of action.
Nasreddine Nabi’s side plays Marumo Gallants next, on Satuday 26 April.
Saleng isn’t one of the top earners at Pirates
According to Briefly, the club’s earner is taking home R500,000 a month, information corroborated by salarypedia.co.za. Here goes, with all figures mentioned as monthly salaries. If Kaizer Chiefs can prepare a huge package for Monnapule Saleng, would he consider doing the unthinkable and moving to Naturena?
- 1. Deon Hotto: R500,000
- 2. Evidence Makgopa: R200,000
- 3. Innocent Maela: R150,000
- 4. Zakhele Lepasa: R150,000
- 5. Goodman Mosele: R150,000
