The cut-off low pressure system will bring at least an 80% chance of rain in some parts of South Africa, according to the SA Weather Service.
A cut-off low system made landfall over the western interior of the country on Wednesday and it is expected to move slowly eastwards.
SA Weather Service forecaster Tokelo Chiloane snow was likely over the Drakensberg mountains in Lesotho, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Eastern Cape this week.

“Daytime temperatures are also expected to drop significantly from Wednesday onwards, across most parts of the country, with a gradual recovery from Friday onwards. The South African Weather Service will continue to monitor any further developments relating to the weather systems and will issue subsequent updates as required,” she said.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected on from Wednesday and South Africans should expect more rainy weather when a cut-off low pressure system hits in the eastern parts of the country, says the SA weather service.

“Severe thunderstorms associated with flooding of roads and settlements, as well as damage or loss of
infrastructure, property, vehicles, livelihoods, and livestock, especially over the Free State and
North West. There is also a distinct possibility of damaging hail occurring in association with the
thunderstorms.”
