Paul Mashatile responds amid growing tension around his motorcade shooting
In an exclusive interview with SABC News, Mashatile revealed that he did not appreciate the way his security handled the situation. “This is not how we operate,” he stated. He vowed to help with the ongoing investigation. “What happened is that as I was driving from the NEC, my car was hit by what initially I thought were stones and when we got home, protector said the impact is too much, and they want to take it for checking because you know a bullet proof wind screen is too strong to be damaged and that’s why they are doing the investigation,” says Mashatile.
IPID takes charge of the investigation
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is the unit leading this case. Paul Mashatile has called for accountability as he is urging the public to allow the motorcade shooting investigation to unfold and not jump to conclusions or speculate.
