‘He is a problem to defenders’: Tsotetsi backs Kaizer Chiefs forward to shine

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi has backed Wandile Duba to lead the Amakhosi attack for years to come.

Duba has scored six goals in 22 matches across all competitions for Amakhosi this season and has been one of Amakhosi’s few bright sparks. At 20, the young forward still has a lot to learn.

“Duba has been doing well for Chiefs. He is still young, but age is just a number. The way the coach manages him will be important for the team,” Tsotetsi said to Soccer Laduma.

“There was a period when he was injured and before that, he was scoring goals, and he was a problem for teams. When he was not available, I thought Chiefs struggled a bit.

“He came back and became a problem again for defenders. He is a young player who is ready to take the position (upfront).

Tsotetsi feels Duba is ready to make a name for himself at Kaizer Chiefs. The 20-year-old scored in Amakhosi’s 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns this past weekend to help his side reach the Nedbank Cup final.

“He is eager to learn and make a name for himself. I think he is ready. It will be important how they manage him. He should remain humble, so that he can gain experience and not be complacent. He should work hard every game,” said ex-Kaizer Chiefs star Mokete Tsotetsi.

Can Duba become a star?
