Kaizer Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup final berth has given them a new lease on life, but their current league form is sobering fans up.
No wins in their last five PSL encounters have them idling eighth on the log, the last spot for MTN8 qualification. It will be a fight till the end, with Chippa United (9) and Golden Arrows (10) trailing close behind.
The former lies one point behind with two games in hand, while the Durban outfit are two points adrift with three games in hand, insinuating Kaizer Chiefs’ MTN8 hopes to be out of their control.
In a post-match conference following AmaKhosi’s and Chilli Boys’ goalless encounter on April 19, head coach Nasreddine Nabi spoke of what it takes to unlock consistency, saying, “We tried to prepare our players mentally. The smart players if they make one mistake they can’t repeat the same mistake,”
“Now we understand that if we don’t prepare 100% mentally we can’t win any game.”
Mayele latest
Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele is a priority target for Kaizer Chiefs, who will make a big push for his signature this season.
However, in a bid to keep him the Egyptian giants have tabled a two-year extension, potentially collapsing the Glamour Boys chances of landing the Congolese striker.
“They are doing everything to keep him. They know there is interest not just from Kaizer Chiefs but other clubs as well and they want to make sure they keep him. So they have offered him a new two-year contract which increases his value as well,” Soccer Laduma reported.

Should Kaizer Chiefs sign Mayele?
