Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has responded to comments made by his former teammate, Itumeleng Khune.
Last week, Khune expressed his disappointment at the current Amakhosi’s first-choice keeper, saying he failed to take his advice, unlike Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams.
“I was grooming Ronwen,” Khune told iDiski Times.
“When he came to Bafana, I told him we are not here to make friends. We are here to compete. You make me better, I make you better, we make the national team better. So, he took those words, and I fail to understand why Bruce Bvuma didn’t listen to that advice.”
This week, Bvuma responded to Khune’s comments, acknowledging the ex-Bafana Bafana captain.
“Itu is a club legend, what he has done for our team, I don’t think anyone of our generation will do,” said Bvuma as quoted by iDiski Times.
Bvuma not focused on Khune’s comments
“What he has done for the country is very big. I respect him. I do talk to him, I do talk to Itu and whatever happened, what he said he said.
“My focus is the team, my focus is me doing well for the team and also making sure that I play to my full potential,” said the Chiefs keeper.
Itumeleng Khune worked with Bvuma at club level and competed with Williams at the national level.
Do you think Bvuma will improve?
