The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has officially released an updated Betway Premiership log.
This follows the expulsion of Royal AM from the PSL a few weeks ago following weeks of speculation over their future.
Royal AM last played in December 2024, and the club was taken over by a SARS curator who failed in his attempt to auction the club.
The league’s Board of Governors (BoG) then voted for the expulsion of Shauwn Mkhize’s club last week.
Royal AM then filed an urgent interdict to try and stop the PSL from expelling them but failed in their attempt.
As reported on The South African, the PSL resolved to approach the South African Football Association (SAFA) regarding the promotion of three ABC Motsepe League teams instead of two for next season.
The PSL relegation/promotion format remains the same:
- Motsepe Foundation Championship winners get automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership.
- Teams that finish second and third will be involved in the playoffs alongside a Betway Premiership team that will finish 15th on the log.
- The winner of the playoffs will campaign in the Betway Premiership next season.
