Big Twist: Riveiro to Wydad, Rulani to return to Orlando Pirates?

Reports indicates that Jose Riveiro could move to North Africa with Rulani Mokwena replacing him at Orlando Pirates.

Last week it was confirmed that the 49-year-old Spanish coach would not extend his stay with the Buccaneers. Before announcing the news, Riveiro was linked with the Atlas Lions of Morocco as well as the Swedend and Finland national teams.

This week however, Soccer Laduma revealed that Wydad Casablanca had joined the race to secure Riveiro’s services.

Rulani Mokwena might return to Orlando Pirates

“You remember there was the Sweden and Finland national teams interested in Jose? Then it was the Morocco FA national team? Then when the team was in Algeria, Wydad from Morocco also inquired about his availability. I think it’s apparently believed that by that time, they heard about the coach not renewing his contract at Pirates,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

“Both jobs will depend on the employers. Wydad are still dealing with the issue of Rulani Mokwena while the Morocca FA is still to decide on whether to keep their current coach or not. It’s believed thar both clubs and countries are interested in him (Riveiro).”

With Wydad Casablanca and Rulani Mokwena parting ways at the end of the season, it could open the door for the Soweto-born coach to return to Orlando Pirates. Surely Mokwena is amongst the five coaches shortlisted for the position alongside Pitso Mosimane.

Mokwena and Riveiro have faced each other in the PSL with the latter having the last laugh at the end of last season.
