The City of Cape Town water and sanitation directorate will shut down water in parts of the municipality to conduct planned maintenance.
The first planned maintenance is scheduled from 8:00 until 18:00 on Tuesday, 22 April.
CAPE TOWN AREAS FACING WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION
The City of Cape Town said planned maintenance work will result in water supply disruption to these areas:
Part of Ottery – The water supply to a part of Ottery will be shut off temporarily from 8:00 until 18:00 on Tuesday, 22 April to enable the safe connection of the newly-installed water pipelines on the corners of Lowat Road and Myrtle Road, Lowat Road and Trenance Road and Woodside Road and Midway Road to the existing water supply infrastructure.
Scottsville – Hout Bay – The City of Cape Town said water supply to Scottsville will be diverted from the current temporary direct-feed water main to the water main with the refurbished Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) from 10:00 until 14:00 on Tuesday, 22 April.
“This will enable the effective regulation of the water pressure within the Scottsville pressure management zone. It will result in the possible pressure fluctuations during the testing and setting of the PRV limits,” the municipality said.
In Danarand, Sarepta, Oakdene, Voëlvlei and BOK College water supply will be shut off temporarily from 09:00 until 16:00 on Wednesday, 23 April, to enable the safe connection of the newly-installed water pipelines on the corner of Iris Road and Good Hope Street in Sarepta to the existing water supply infrastructure.
Part of Martinville – Somerset West – The metro municipality said the water supply to this area will be shut off temporarily from 9:00 until 17:00 on Thursday, 24 April.
“This will enable the maintenance team to assess the areas that will be affected ahead of the connection of the newly-installed water pipelines in Outlands Street, Pienaar Street, Gable Close, and Drama Street from Outlands Street to Van Zyl Street to the existing water supply infrastructure. These streets and possibly the immediate surrounding streets will experience no water during this period,” the municipality said.
