Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune has responded to Brilliant Khuzwayo‘s claims that he often received favours to play ahead of him.
Khune and Khuzwayo played together at Chiefs for years before the latter left Naturena for Orlando Pirates in 2018.
His stint at Pirates was short as he had to retire from professional football due to injury.
Now, Khuzwayo had claimed that his lack of game time at Chiefs was sometimes due to favours made for Khune by different coaches.
Khune was Amakhosi’s No.1 when Khuzwayo joined Chiefs in 2012, and he was also a regular for Bafana Bafana.
In his defence, Khune said Khuzwayo stood no chance of playing ahead of him on a regular basis due to what he used to do on the pitch.
Khune’s dominance saw Khuzwayo feature in just 27 league matches during his six-year stay with Kaizer Chiefs.
The only season Khuzwayo enjoyed more game time at Chiefs was during the 2014-15 campaign where he featured 16 times in the league.

KAIZER CHIEFS: KHUNE ADDRESSES KHUZWAYO’S CLAIMS
“I saw Brilliant Khuzwayo coming out to attack me, saying other coaches did favours for me,” Khune told iDiski Times.
“But I don’t understand where he takes that from because we used to train together. We used to compete, and we used to have healthy competition.
“And if you had to go compare, you will see that he stood no chance of playing when I was fit because of what I did on the field whether at training, whether at Chiefs or Bafana Bafana.
“It’s his own opinion. I respect it.”
