Kaizer Chiefs have decided on the future of an exiled midfielder. Here’s the latest by way of transfer news from Naturena.
Mdantsane didn’t make the grade at Kaizer Chiefs
At his peak value, transfermarkt estimates that Mduduzi Mdantsane was at his most desirable in the market in February 2023. They gauged him to be worth 1.2m (R22.8 million). Now, over two years later, they figure he’s worth half that (R11.4 million). Injuries have ravaged his time at Naturena, including an unfortunate one sustained in a car accident. However, when fit, his form hasn’t been to the standard expected by Chiefs. The former Cape Town City star only managed 16 appearances, with two assists and zero goals. This led to a loan spell with Richards Bay in 2024-2025.
“Sekhukhune United could have the advantage of signing Mdu (Mdantsane) because Kaizer Chiefs are looking at either loaning him out or releasing him permanently with his contract remaining with one year on it, and this could give Sekhukhune United the chance to sign him,” an insider told Soccer Laduma.
“They may wait for Chiefs to decide and move in, or they could start talks even before the end of the season.”
Ime Okon will also soon be available
Chiefs could be ready to pounce with news that talented SuperSport United defender Ime Okon won’t be staying with Matsatsantsa next season. The 21-year-old has already racked up 53 appearances for his club since making his debut in 2022 after moving from Gauteng’s Randburg FC. Okon went on trial with Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv in January 2025 but rejected a permanent move there.
Do you regret how things panned out with Mdantsane?
