Kaizer Chiefs’ MTN8 ambitions out of their hands and in the toilet

Kaizer Chiefs’ season could implode in front of their eyes in the next two weeks if they’re not careful. Let’s have a look.

MTN8 race in the balance for Kaizer Chiefs

Another trophyless season beckons, and the club even faces an uphill battle to qualify for next season’s MTN8. Chippa and Golden Arrows both pose a serious threat to their ambitions of a top-eight finish; Amakhosi have 30 points after 24 games. The Chilli Boys are just a point adrift and have two gams in hand, while Arrows are only two points behind Chiefs and they have three games in hand on the Glamour Boys. Chiefs can only pick up a maximum of 18 points in the remainder of the campaign. However, if we go by their average points per game (PPG tally) of 1.25 so far, they’ll only get 7.5 more points this season. Let’s be generous and call it 8.

Silverware hopes are hanging by a thread

South African champions Sundowns host Chiefs in the final four of the Nedbank Cup on Sunday, 13 April at 18:00. Their next Betway Premiership assignment is away to Chippa United on Saturday, 19 April.
