Kaizer Chiefs selling TWO misfits to fund Mayele move?

Kaizer Chiefs could be willing to sell a few fringe players to fund a long-anticipated move for Fiston Mayele.

Mayele is an elite continental goal-getter

DR Congo marksman Fiston Mayele has an exemplary record in the Caf Champions League. He’s got eight goals in 11 appearances this term. Overall, he’s scored 21 goals and supplied four assists in 35 matches in Africa’s elite club competition. No wonder Chiefs and Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates want to claim the signature of the man who broke Bucs hearts in an epic Champions League semi-final second leg; Mayele’s brace helped Pyramids to a 3-2 win and sealed their place in the final against Sundowns.

Should Kaizer Chiefs sell Sirino and Ngcobo to fund a move?

Attacking midfielders Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Gaston Sirino might become surplus to requirements for different reasons. Experienced campaigner Sirino, now 34, will likely play a part in the upcoming Nedbank Cup final, but his long-term future with the club looks unclear. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Ngcobo has struggled to stay fit in the last three seasons. He’s only made 10 league appearances this term, and the last time he made more than 16 in a single campaign was 2020-2021. It might now be time for the club to take a difficult decision on the fan-favourite’s time at Naturena.
