Kaizer Chiefs set for double transfer deal in North Africa?

Kaizer Chiefs, aiming to lure overseas talent, are monitoring Pyramids FC duo Fiston Mayele and South Africa’s Fagrie Lakay.

It’s been a while since the former SuperSport striker played in the PSL, departing Cape Town City to the Egyptian giants on the last day of 2022’s January window. And while he’s linked with a return to home soil, it’s Mayele who AmaKhosi are prioritising.

“At the moment there is not one striker who the club could say is the one joining them. Yes, they are priotising Fiston Mayele but they don’t want to be caught off guard if things don’t work out with him and that’s why they are reigniting the interest in [Fagrie] Lakay,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.

“You remember they have been interested in him for some time now? They are just waiting for that chance to sign him. And this could be the right time to do so for the club,” they concluded.

A second source confirmed Kaizer Chiefs’ strategy to keep their options open, saying, “It could go down to choice and priority for both Chiefs and Pyramids. Which striker could Pyramids let go and which one do they really want to keep? As for Chiefs, which player do they really want to sign over the other?

“It is expected to go down to the wire as they are interested in two strikers of the same team. So, it will also be about the pricing from Pyramids and what Chiefs can afford to pay for them to get the striker they desire for next season. That’s the decision they will have to make.”

Mabuya inbound?

In other news, Kaizer Chiefs appear set on bidding for Richards Bay defender Lwandile Mabuya in the offseason; “it is true that Chiefs have contacted us several times about Mabuya’s situation,” KickOff reported.

Who else should Kaizer Chiefs be monitoring?
