Kaizer Chiefs target to sink Orlando Pirates’ hearts?

Next week, Kaizer Chiefs’ long-term target, Fiston Mayele, will face Orlando Pirates when Pyramids FC travels to Soweto for the first of two legs.

The winner will advance to the Champions League final, where they will face Mamelodi, either Sundowns or Al Ahly. It’s been thirty years since Pirates last lifted the trophy, which would be a fitting finale to Jose Riveiro’s illustrious Sowetan career.

Mayele, one of North Africa’s most formidable forwards, bagged a first-half quarter-final brace against AS FAR and will be hoping to do the same against Kaizer Chiefs’ bitter rivals.

AmaKhosi have longed for the services of Mayele and could get their man this offseason amid reports of Pyramid’s willingness to let the Congolese international leave.

“To be honest with you, Pyramids are willing to let him [Mayele] go now, and that’s why they are already looking for a replacement,” a source stated.

“You remember that forward from Sekhukhune United? The DRC striker Andy Boyeli? A move for him is in preparation if Mayele leaves at the end of the season. So, yes, they are preparing for life after Mayele, whether he joins Kaizer Chiefs or any other team.”

Europe comes calling

According to reports, Orlando Pirates starters Tshegofatso Mabasa and Thalente Mabatha have Championship side Sunderland are vying for their services.

“It’s the same club [Sunderland] interested in another Pirates player, Thalente Mbatha. It’s believed that when the scouts came to look at Mbatha they were also happy with Mabasa, and they had to assess him further in other games and apparently they were happy and they have enquired about him. So, Sunderland are the club interested in Tshegofatso Mabasa,” SoccerLaduma concluded.

Will Mayele be a good fit for Kaizer Chiefs?
