Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Saleng, Sithole, Maseko, R7 million

Kaizer Chiefs appear to have turned their season around with an emphatic win over Mamelodi Sundowns this past weekend in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.

With a handful of matches to play and a trophy to win, Amakhosi can still salvage their season by winning the Nedbank Cup and finishing in the top eight. A CAF Confederation Cup qualification can be a cherry on top for Nasreddine Nabi’s men.

They play Orlando Pirates next month in the Nedbank Cup final. Kaizer Chiefs have not won a trophy in 10 years and this could finally be the year the drought ends.

Irrespective of how their season ends, Amakhosi have several players they have their eyes set on.

Sphephelo ‘Yaya’ Sithole

According to Soccer Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs are looking to sign the Bafana Bafana midfielder next season.

“There are some decisions which the team (Chiefs) is believed to be taking because of the players they already have. You see, with Yaya (Sithole), there are about four players already in that position in Edson Castillo, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Samkelo Zwane, as well as Yusuf Maart if he will still be around. So, the club apparently feels that position will be overloaded, so that’s why they are believed to be withdrawing from signing Yaya,” the source told the publication.

Kaizer Chiefs to go for Yaya and Maseko?

Thapelo Maseko

Maseko has only played a handful of matches for Mamelodi Sundowns. Amakhosi are believed to be working on a plan to bring the 21-year-old to Naturena.

“It’s a move that Chiefs are contemplating working on,” Soccer Laduma reported. The Kaizer Chiefs scouts know Maseko very well and they know what he could bring to the team and that’s why they are enquiring about him. For now, it’s still early to say what will happen, but what I can tell you is that they are seriously looking into that,” said the publication.

Kaizer Chiefs can still earn an extra R7 million if they claim the Nedbank Cup. That could see them top up and sign the likes of Oswin Appollis and Monnapule Saleng next season.
