It’s no secret that Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has been interested in his former striker Fiston Mayele.
FISTON MAYELE IMPRESSING KAIZER CHIEFS
“He’s like family to me; we worked well together [at Young Africans],” Nabi told iDiski Times in August 2024. “But he has a contract with Pyramids, and he’s not available. We respect that and have not engaged in any negotiations.”
Following the 30-year-old Mayele’s exit from Nabi’s Young Africans in July 2023, the Democratic Republic of Congo international is delivering the goods in the Egyptian Premier League and CAF Champions League for Pyramids. The Kaizer Chiefs target hit his 13th goal of the season last week. Mayele scored twice as Pyramids defeated Moroccan giants AS Rabat 4-1 in the quarter-final first leg. The second battle kicks off at 21:00 this evening at Stade d’Honneur in Meknes, Morocco.
In the meantime, Kaizer Chiefs are preparing to face the mighty Mamelodi Sundowns in a Nedbank Cup semifinal clash. The game will kick off on Sunday at 18:00 from the Loftus Versfeld.
