Kaizer Chiefs turns down Bafana midfielder!

Kaizer Chiefs have backed out in pursuing Bafana Bafana’s Sphephelo Sithole.

Despite growing up in Durban, the defensive midfielder has never featured in the PSL, rising the ranks through Sporting Lisbon’s academy, which has led to eighteen international caps thus far.

According to reports, the former Kaizer Chiefs target is no longer interested in the Soweto giants due to squad size.

“There are some decisions which the team is believed to be taking because of the players they already have,” SoccerLaduma explained.

“You see with Yaya (Sithole) there are about four players already in that position in Edson Castillo, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Samkelo Zwane, as well as Yusuf Maart if he will still be around.

“So, the club apparently feels that position will be overloaded so that’s why they are believed to be withdrawing from signing Yaya.”

New signing inbound

Kaizer Chiefs’ latest acquisition is talented 19-year-old Naledi Hlongwane.

“What I can tell you is the five-year deal is the one believed to have been agreed upon by all parties,” a source revealed.

“Yes, the first time it was apparently proposed for a three-year deal. But the club felt they needed to keep the striker for a long time. So that’s why, finally, they came up with a five-year contract. This one is as good as done. I don’t think there will be any changes now.”
