Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson teed off on Thursday as the three honorary starters at this year’s Masters.

The honorary starter tradition dates back 62 years to 1963.
This year’s tournament at Augusta National is the 89th edition as 95 golfers battle for the famed green jacket.
Player has won three Masters titles, while Nicklaus and Watson have six and two, respectively, to their names.
Player is now 89 years of age, while Nicklaus is 85.
Watson, who ‘replaced’ Arnold Palmer as an honorary starter, is 75.

Three South Africans in the field
As reported by The South African website, there are three South Africans in the field for this year’s Masters.
Bezuidenhout will be joined by Thriston Lawrence and 2011 winner, Charl Schwartzel.
Lawrence will start his opening round on Thursday at 17:10 (SA time), alongside Spain’s Jose-Maria Olazabal and American Brian Campbell.
Bezuidenhout will get his tournament under way at 17:38 (SA time) alongside two Americans in Tom Hoge and Matt McCarty.
Finally, Schwazrtzel has been paired alongside American Denny McCarthy and Singapore amateur Hiroshi Tai.
They will tee off at 17:49 (SA time).
