Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi admitted that his side were not in a good situation going onto the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Amakhosi face a team that has beaten them three times this season. On Sunday, Nabi and his men will aim to reach their first Nedbank Cup final in six years when they take on the Brazilians at the Loftus Versfeld.
“To be honest with you I can’t say that we are in a good situation,” said Nabi on Chiefs’ form.
“I think the last three games were so difficult for us because from the beginning we always had problems when playing against teams that we are normally better than.
“So always we find a problem when we play against this kind of teams but we discussed to see what’s the problem, to find the problem and to try to correct the situation. We get a lot of meetings between the players and us but us as the technical bench we try to analyse the situation.
“But to be honest with you now actually we are in a good way. That’s in the past we discussed about it, we tried to solve it and now we can concentrate on the future.
Nabi underpressure as Kaizer Chiefs struggle for results
“After tomorrow we have a game against Sundowns. I think we played against Cape Town [City], we played against Golden Arrows, we played against Richards Bay normally we must get nine points in these three games.
“We were thinking a lot about these games but I think we take responsibility if we don’t win this game.”
Nabi has lost three times to Mamelodi Sundowns this season, but this time, the Chiefs coach feels like he has assessed past mistakes.
“Like I said we analysed all the situations but it’s between us and the players we know what’s the situation and we are finished discussing about what happened before.
“We are now only thinking about Sunday’s game against Sundowns in the Nedbank semi-final.”
