Nasreddine Nabi’s powerful dressing room speech to save the season, has been revealed.
Kaizer Chiefs head coach took action after a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium. The loss dropped Amakhosi out of the Betway Premiership’s top eight, leaving players visibly stunned and fans deeply concerned. Gallants, coming from behind, delivered a shocking blow that extended Chiefs’ winless streak to six consecutive league games.
Instead of immediately facing the media, Nabi gathered his team for a lengthy dressing room talk aimed at reigniting their fighting spirit.
Nabi: ‘There is no time to blame anyone’
Addressing journalists after the delay, Nabi apologized and explained the urgent need for a team meeting.
“My apologies for the delay of the press conference,” Nabi said, as quoted by iDiski Times.
“It’s true that we had a talk with the players, because after such a difficult position we are in after today’s game, you see that everybody is down and there is a lack of confidence.”
Nabi made it clear that lingering on the defeat would only deepen the crisis. He urged his players to forget regrets and focus on the future, emphasizing collective accountability and self-assessment.
“Sometimes you feel like some are giving up. So what I told is that there is no time to blame anyone or each other or trying to regret what happened because the result like today cannot come back,” he continued.
Soweto Derbies: Last hope to rescue the season
With two massive fixtures on the horizon — including the highly anticipated Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, Nabi demanded renewed energy and unity from his squad.
“We have two very important games ahead of us that can still save our season. The derby is coming next weekend and there is the final of Nedbank…”
The Chiefs boss challenged his players to reflect on their performances in both training and matches, calling for honesty and resilience.
“Everyone needs to assess himself with honesty and look at how he does in training and during games, and then we need to stick together and go into this coming week of preparation with our heads up,” Nabi concluded.
Can Chiefs turn their season around?
Nabi’s passionate words underline the urgency gripping Kaizer Chiefs as they enter a defining stretch of the season. With pride, silverware, and top-eight hopes on the line, the next two matches could shape the future of the Glamour Boys, and their head coach.
