Next Orlando Pirates coach worries the players

Orlando Pirates have not won a football match in three attempts. The club’s former attacker Bruce Ramokadi says the players are affected by Jose Riveiro’s looming exit.

ORLANDO PIRATES LOSE TO SEKHUKHUNE UNITED

Following Tuesday’s shock 1-0 loss to Babina Noko, the Sea Robbers marked a third consecutive match without victory. The spell began with the 0-0 draw with Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League semifinal first leg in Soweto, before Orlando Pirates lost 3-2 in the reverse leg in Cairo, Egypt.

“It’s been three to four matches without a win for Pirates right now. The timing of the announcement about the coach’s departure does affect the players because, as we all know, nobody likes changes,” Ramokadi said via KickOff.

The former Buccaneer added: Some players are aware they are favourites of coach Riveiro, so now they have to worry about whether the next Pirates coach will feel the same way about them.

“This uncertainty plays a huge role in football, as you don’t know what the future holds, and it can demoralise the team’s spirit,” Ramokadi concluded.

In the meantime, Orlando Pirates will face Kaizer Chiefs in back-to-back Soweto derbies. The first game on Saturday at 15:00 from the FNB Stadium, before next Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
