Orlando Pirates are preparing for life without Monnapule Saleng as negotiations remain stagnant.
According to reports, the Buccaneers are due to announce their first signing of the year after securing the services of Baroka FC forward Kabelo Kgositsile to a five-year deal. The 27-year-old’s game, potent with speed and skill, resembles Saleng’s, suggesting it to be a direct replacement for the former Moroka Swallows man.
“It’s a done deal,” KickOff revealed. “Kgositsile will be in the books of Orlando Pirates next season. There were no issues regarding the movement of the player as both clubs enjoy a good relationship, and it was easy to finalise the deal.”
Who else could fill his shoes?
Cape Town City attacker Jaedin Rhodes is another prospect on Orlando Pirates’ radar known for being electric on the flanks – just like Saleng. Then there’s Bafana’s Bafana’ Elias Mokwana, who came up clutch against Lesotho in Bafana’s World Cup qualifiers, jostling past defenders before setting Relebohile Mofokeng’s first of the night.
The former Sekhukhune United protagonist is almost like-for-like against Saleng with his thin frame and agile movements; however, Orlando Pirates have shown no interest in the 25-year-old.
uSuthu star Tshepang Moremi is another player capable of filling Saleng’s shoes, and one who is on Orlando Pirates’ radar. Negotiations have begun.
