Orlando Pirates are currently closing off a chapter with next season set to mark a new era for the Bucs.

Orlando Pirates will have a new coach and captain next season.

Meaning, these Bucs icons will be featuring in their last Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs.

PIRATES SET TO HIRE A NEW COACH

Jose Riveiro will be leaving Pirates at the end of the season.

Bucs management are currently searching for their next head coach. Some big names such as Pitso Mosimane, Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi have all been linked with the job.

Additionally, Benni McCarthy and Dan Malesela names have also come up.

Mosimane is a free agent following is departure from Esteghlal FC. Given his widely-respected and reputation, he is a strong candidate to replace Riveiro.

Meanwhile, Mokwena has just left Wydad after being granted special leave. Mngqithi is also available after recently leaving Sundowns. Both former Sundowns coaches have experience at the top having tasted tremendous succuss with The Brazilians.

Meanwhile, McCarthy and Malesela are fan picks based on heresay. Therefore, their are no official links to either man nor has Pirates confirmed interest at the time of publication.

NEXT BUCS CAPTAIN

Innocent Maela’s contract expires at the end of the season.

Furthermore, Bucs management do not intend to extend his contract with Pirates. In fact, they have offered him a new role in the club.

Meaning, the next Bucs coach must appoint a new captain to lead Pirates for the 2025/26 season. Tapelo Xoki has lead Pirates throughout the latter stages of the campaign. So, he is the favourite to become the new Bucs permanent captain next season.
