Orlando Pirates are at it again.
The Buccaneers and Kaizer Chiefs have longed for Stellenbosch sensation Fawaaz Basadien but could not secure his services in the last two transfer windows as the Cape Winelands club continues to reject all offers.
Things could be different this winter as the Buccaneers have not lost hope for the 28-year-old and will reportedly table another bid in the coming months.
“It has been easy for Basadien because he’s keen on trying out a new experience at a bigger club but he has remained professional even though the club didn’t accept any offers for him this season,” The Citizen revealed.
“Chiefs interest was serious but there was no agreement reached between the two clubs and now it looks like Pirates are coming in strong for him. Don’t be surprised to see him join them when the season ends but you never know in football because things change very quickly, and other clubs might come knocking as well.
Offloading in the offseason
And while Orlando Pirates continue to search for stars they’re preparing to release four players once the season concludes. It’s a strategy that makes room for the arrival of others.
“So far, the four players [Innocent Maela, Phillip Ndlondlo, Karim Kimvuidi and Zakhele Lepasa] are on the list and are expected to leave at the end of the season,” a source confirmed.
“What I can tell you for now, apparently, is that it’s believed these four players could be the ones to leave. The club is working with all the involved parties to look at the way forward so that they can reach an amicable solution where it is needed.”
