Orlando Pirates transfers: Pitso Mosimane, Kimvuidi, Makgopa, Barker

Today’s Orlando Pirates news wrap focuses on potential player exits and a new manager. Is Pitso Mosimane a candidate?

Pirates identify Pitso Mosimane as their top target

According to Soccer-Laduma, the legendary former Sundowns, Bafana and Al Ahly boss Pitso Mosimane is Orlando Pirates’ number one target to replace the outgoing Jose Riveiro.

“There are a few coaches to be considered for different reasons, but apparently it’s believed that Pitso (Mosimane) is their (Pirates) preferred candidate. It’s believed that he is their first priority at the moment. That’s what the team wants as things stand. Even if they have not spoken to him (behind the scenes) yet, he is their first priority,” said the source to the same publication.

“They are saying if they (Pirates) managed to work with Jose Riveiro for three years, then why can’t they go for a coach like Pitso? So, they know what they are looking for, and they know quality doesn’t come cheap. But as you know, although he is their first priority, he is not the only one they are looking at. As I said, there are different factors they are looking at,” concluded the source.

Kimvuidi, happy Riveiro is leaving?

The 22-year-old playmaker from DR Congo has been persistently linked with a loan exit so that he can get more minutes. However, with talent in abundance, a new boss might want to retain the former Maritzburg man. Is Riveiro’s exit good news for Kivuidi and, indeed, Evidence Makgopa?

Is Barker a candidate to replace Jose Riveiro?

Stellenbosch FC are arguably the most well-run club in South Africa’s PSL, all things considered and factoring in their financial resources. Manager Steve Barker has done a stellar job with the Cape Winelands, turning Stellies into a dangerous side who can cause anyone problems on any given day. They also won the first trophy in their history under Barker, the Carling Knockout 2024.
