Orlando Pirates transfers: Rulani Mokwena, Kwayiba, Makhaula

Today’s Orlando Pirates news includes Rulani Mokwena and a rumour that the Sea Robbers have beaten Kaizer Chiefs to a major target.

Mokwena is now the frontrunner to replace Riveiro at Orlando Pirates

Rulani Mokwena is the favourite to replace Jose Riveiro as head coach of Orlando Pirates, according to The Citizen.

“Yes, it’s true that Pitso’s name had come up in the management meetings and was the leading candidate to replace Riveiro, but that changed since Wydad announced that they will release Mokwena at the end of the season. He is now the leading candidate,” said a source.

The stats of an underrated midfield general

35-year-old midfield general Makhaula has made 19 league appearances this term and 38 across all competitions. We don’t need to tell you how important he is to the Pirates’ cause under Jose Riveiro. Not many players born in the 80s still have this level of stamina in their tanks.

Orlando Pirates beat Kaizer Chiefs to Kwayiba signing

According to iDiski Times, Orlando Pirates have sealed a deal ahead of Kaizer Chiefs for Chippa and Bafana playmaker Sinoxolo Kwayiba. The 25-year-old has an eye for goal, striking six times and claiming an assist from 19 league appearances this term. Ironically, Chippa’s next opponents are Kaizer Chiefs.
