A PSL transfer war is brewing over Sekhukhune United star, as agent confirms.
Winger Keletso Makgalwa has emerged as one of the hottest properties in the Premier Soccer League, drawing significant interest from top-flight clubs following a sensational comeback season.
Makgalwa, who joined Sekhukhune from Upington City FC at the beginning of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership, wasted no time making an impact. Since arriving, the 28-year-old winger has lit up the league with six goals and nine assists in just 27 appearances across all competitions.
From Championship magic to PSL stardom
Before stepping into the PSL spotlight, Makgalwa caught attention in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where he scored 11 goals in 23 matches for Upington. He had signed on a free transfer after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns, the club where he began his professional journey.
Despite spending just one season at Upington, Makgalwa’s performances turned heads nationwide. That form carried into his first campaign with Babina Noko, where he quickly became a central figure in their push for a top-three finish.
Currently sitting fourth on the league table with 37 points from 23 games, Sekhukhune United has relied heavily on Makgalwa’s creativity and consistency. The team has bagged 11 wins, drawn four, and suffered eight losses, but Makgalwa’s contribution has remained a bright spark throughout.
Transfer interest grows: But no official offers yet
As interest swells around the winger, Ntobatsi Masegela, director of Footballerz Sports Marketing and Makgalwa’s agent, has confirmed that clubs are circling—but nothing is official yet.
“I think first and foremost we have to respect the fact that Makgalwa is contracted to Sekhkhune United and as you know he’s been one of their best players this season,” Masegela said as quoted by FARPost.
“So everything that concerns Makgalwa and the enquiries has to go through the right channels and contact the club he has a contract with.”
“At the moment there’s interest in Makgalwa, but everything has been verbal and nothing is formal as yet,” he added.
Kaizer Chiefs deal that never happened
According to iDiski Times, Upington City had previously agreed to let Makgalwa join Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the 2023/24 season. However, the deal fell through, leaving the door wide open for other suitors to make a move.
With transfer season fast approaching and Makgalwa’s stock rising rapidly, clubs will need to act quickly if they hope to land one of the PSL’s most in-form wingers.
