Reminder: How comfortable are the Springboks in world rankings?

The Springboks were recently able to celebrate reaching 2000 consecutive days of being world champions, and over this period they have also been regularly ensconced at the summit of the world rankings.

At the start of this year, the Springboks were also able to watch quite happily as the Six Nations played out in favour of France, while recent rankings challengers Ireland slipped to third place after an inconsistent tournament.

It’s left the Springboks with a healthy rankings gap of 2.42 points ahead of second-placed New Zealand, while they are 2.95 points clear of Ireland.

In fourth place, France are now 3.27 points behind the Springboks, but there is then a big gap from fifth-placed Argentina onwards.

Ultimately, it’s worth remembering what a healthy cushion South Africa continues to enjoy as the start of their busy international beckons on the horizon.
