Rihanna knows how to make headlines, and this year’s Met Gala in New York was no exception. The Barbadian superstar turned fashion’s biggest night into a family affair.
She revealed that she’s expecting her third child with rapper A$AP Rocky.
RIHANNA AT THE MET GALA
The Met Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is famous for its flamboyance. But even among a sea of celebrities, Rihanna’s entrance was the moment everyone was waiting for.
She arrived fashionably late-after 10pm, in true Riri style-wearing a tailored Marc Jacobs suit. It was complete with a cropped wool jacket, pinstriped skirt, and an oversized hat.
But it was her baby bump that stole the spotlight.
ASAP ROCKY GUSHES ABOUT THE NEWS
Earlier in the evening, photographer Miles Diggs had teased fans by posting a striking photo of Rihanna in the New York rain, baby bump on full display, according to Daily Mail.
The anticipation built up until she finally graced the blue carpet, posing confidently and cradling her belly. “It feels amazing, you know,” A$AP Rocky told reporters.
“It’s time that we show the people what we was cooking up. And I’m glad everybody’s happy for us, ’cause we definitely happy, you know”.
The couple, who already have two sons-RZA, born in May 2022, and Riot, born in August 2023-looked over the moon.
RIHANNA’S PREVIOUS PREGNANCIES
Rihanna’s previous pregnancy reveal at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show had already set the bar high, but this Met Gala announcement was just as iconic.
A$AP Rocky, who served as co-chair for the event, was beaming. “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” he said to the crowd. “I’m pleased that everyone is excited for us because we are certainly thrilled”.
Rihanna’s look was praised by fashion critics, but it was her glowing joy that made the biggest impression.
PREGNANCY FASHION FLAIR
Fans who have long celebrated Rihanna’s music and business ventures, were quick to share their excitement on social media.
Rihanna isn’t the first to use the Met Gala as a stage for a pregnancy reveal. Tennis legend Serena Williams and model Karlie Kloss both did the same in 2023.
But few can match Rihanna’s flair for drama and style.
