RIP: Durban City hit by tragedy as their player passes away!

Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) outfit Durban City has been hit by tragedy after one of their players passed away on Tuesday.

Durban City were in league action against Milford FC at Chatsworth Stadium when the game had to be stopped.

The incident happened in the second half of the encounter with Durban City trailing Milford FC by 1-0.

Milford FC’s goal was scored by Siphosethu Ndlabi from the penalty spot merely 10 minutes into the game.

This tragic news comes at a time when Durban City are hard at work trying to return to topflight football.

As things stand, Farook Kadodia’s charges top the standings with 46 points from 25 league games.

They could have easily opened an eight-point gap between them and Kruger United with a win over Milford FC on the night.

DURBAN CITY PLAYER PASSES AWAY

According to reports, the said player, known to The South African, but yet to be made public suffered concussion during the game.

The player was attended to by the paramedics and club doctors before being rushed to hospital.

However, he could not make it to hospital as he succumbed to death before the ambulance could get there.

And upon receiving the news, the referee stopped the game, and decided that it could not go on in respect of the deceased.

Durban City then released a brief statement confirming the suspension of their encounter with Milford FC due to unforseen circumstances.

They did not reveal the name of the player, instead left everything to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to make it public.

“Today’s match has been suspended due to circumstances beyond our control,” reads the statement.

“The Premier Soccer League will issue an official statement in due course.

“We appreciate your understanding and will keep you updated.”
