Rulani Mokwena’s fate decided at Wydad?

Rulani Mokwena‘s fate at Wydad Athletic Club appears to have been decided following some crunch meetings held last week.

Mokwena is under immense pressure to keep his job in North Africa after dissatisfaction from a section of Wydad fans and management.

His agent Steve Kapeluschnik had to fly to Morocco to meet with the Wydad hierarchy over whether or not they still want him.

And it has now emerged that there were some agreements struck between the two parties over Mokwena’s future.

According to a report by iDiski Times, Kapeluschnik told Radio Mars what was discussed and agreed to with Wydad president Hisham.

Kapeluschnik said he told Wydad to either keep Mokwena until the end of the season or tell him to leave now.

Mind you, Mokwena is contracted to Wydad until June 2027, and he desperately wanted to be at FIFA Club World Cup in June.

The news comes on the back of reports that Wydad had been owing Mokwena salaries for eight months.

However, it was later reported that Wydad settled the 38-year-old mentor following those series of meetings with his agent.

Mokwena’s mandate when he took over at Wydad was to ensure that he takes the team back to CAF Champions League football or win a trophy.

He has already failed to win a trophy this season but the goal to qualify for CAF Champions League can still be achieved.

With five league games to go, Wydad find themselves third on the Botola Pro 1 log with 43 points from 25 games.

They have won 11, drawn 10 and lost four, and they are two points behind second-placed AS FAR Rabat.

RULANI MOKWENA TO LEAVE WYDAD AT THE END OF THE SEASON?

“I met with President Hisham, the coach, and the technical staff, and there was mutual support between the two parties,” said Kapelushnik.

“I clearly told the president, ‘If you don’t want Rulani to stay, tell us and we’ll leave. But if you want him, let him stay until the end of the season’.
