SANDF confirms passenger door off SA Air Force aircraft found on FARM

In a story that would be hilarious if it weren’t deadly true, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has confirmed that the passenger-side door that came off a SA Air Force aircraft has been located on a farm.

In appears the bizarre incident took place on Friday, 11 April, exactly a week prior to the SANDF issuing a media statement.

The door was located by the owner of the farm, who confirmed there was no loss of life – both human and animal.

An investigation into the incident is under way as at the time of publishing.

Full SANDF media statement:

‘The South African National Defence Force 9SANDF) wishes to state that the passenger-side door that came off an SA Air Force (SAAF) King Air aircraft on Friday, 11 April 2025 was located within a farm erf a short distance north of Lanseria airport precinct and has been retrieved and taken to Air Force Base Waterkloof.

‘Upon inspection of the area where the door was located and as confirmed by the farm owner, it was established that there was no damage to infrastructure nor was there any loss of life suffered on the farm.

‘The investigation of the incident continues.’
