CAMERON HANEKOM
Hanekom reminds me of the legendary Pierre Spies. The explosive powerful Bulls number eight is as powerful as he is passionate, as hard-working as he is skilled – he is the complete package.
He has the eye for a gap and if there isn’t one he will make one. Hanekom bounces off defenders at will with his explosive hand off, dominant leg drive and immense physicality. He is also exceptional in open play as he is fast, agile and his ability to offload in the tackle makes him a nightmare for opposition defenders. However, he is a dream to watch for Bok fans and he has a dream to play for the Springboks consistently in the future.
Hanekom made his Springboks debut against Wales during the Boks end of year tour. This gave him his first taste of Bok rugby. However, their is no doubt he will feast in the green and gold. I believe Hanekom could go on to be a Springboks great. Just imagine, Hanekom under the tutelage of Duanne Vermeulen at the Springboks.
JURENZO ‘THE BOOGIEMAN’ JULIUS
Julies has from being a junior Bok to becoming one of the x-factor stars at the Sharks. So, in a star stuudded backline line-up featuring the likes of Andre Esterhuizen, Lukhanyo Am, Makazole Mapimpi, Aphelele Fassi, Grant Wiilliams, Jaden Hendrikse and Jordan Hendrikse, Julies has more than held his own.
He has started to get more first-team exposure in the URC under John Plumtree this season following his rapid burst on the scene in last year’s Currie Cup.
So, you can expect his rise to continue exponentially. Julies has skills in abundance, he is the epitome of an x-factor player. Julies is a game breaker with tremendous speed off the mark, razor sharp vision and an ankle breaking side-step – off either foot. He is lightning quick, agile and extremely exciting to watch. He can break open any defence. Given the right mentorship and guidance, he can become a special player for the Boks in the future.
Therefore, Springboks rugby is in great hands. SA Rugby has some of the most red-hot aand exciting prodigies coming through the ranks in World Rugby.
