Kaizer Chiefs travel to Pretoria this weekend to face a unstoppable Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup.
Amakhosi have not beaten Masandawana in 12 meetings and have lost eight of their last 10 matches against the Tshwane giants. This season alone, the two teams have met each other three times, with Downs claiming the bragging rights each time.
Will things change this time? Only time will tell. Kaizer Chiefs winger Wandile Duba has been in fine form since his return from injury and could pose a danger to the Mamelodi Sundowns defence. The 20-year-old has netted five league goals this season in 17 matches.
Speaking after Chiefs’ 1-1 draw with TS Galaxy, Duba explained how he scored the goal. “I had to score today,” he told SuperSport TV.
“Mistakes happen. We will fix it next game and I will make sure when I cross again, someone scores. We will fix it at training.
Duba could be the man to help Kaizer Chiefs beat Mamelodi Sundowns
“I had to put my body on the line to get the goal to at least get the three points because we needed it a lot especially after the results from the games that we come from. Today we needed the win,” he said.
Looking ahead of the Mamelodi Sundowns match, the Kaizer Chiefs youngster promised fans that the club would deliver the Nedbank Cup to naturena.
“Our fans know that we are trying and I’m sure they also get tired [of the winless runs] and step-by-step we will fix it.
“Nedbank, we promise, we will deliver it for them,” he said.
Wandile Duba’s creativity, speed and eye for goal can cause a lot of problems for the Mamelodi Sundowns’ defence and if Kaizer Chiefs play long balls on the wings, they might win.
