Former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has finally addressed rumours linking him to Orlando Pirates.
The 60-year-old coach has been out of a job since parting ways with Iranian side Esteghlal FC over payment issues early this year. With Jose Riveiro announcing that he will be leaving the Buccaneers at the end of the season, Pitso’s name was the first to be mentioned as a possible replacement.
‘Jingles’ is Africa’s most successful club coach having won multiple CAF Champions League titles. Speaking to The Sowetan, Pitso Mosimane said no one from Orlando Pirates had contacted him.
“I’ve seen it [speculation]. Nobody has spoken to me. So, we can’t be talking about nothing,” he said.
“We will see. At the moment this badge means a lot to me, more than any other badge.
Pitso Mosimane open to joining Orlando Pirates
Mosimane said he would return to coaching in the PSL if the project is right.
“I’m home, yes, but it depends. It must be the right project, it must be the right time,” he told the publication
“But let me build this legacy, because once I stop coaching people will forget about the trophies.
“Let’s have something that will keep me going. Look how busy I am, today I’m here, [and] I’m going to another school. I was launching one in Rustenberg three days back, I’m so busy, it’s not funny…
Pitso Mosimane to Orlando Pirates is a possibility
Having returned home, Jingles has spent most of his time with the Pitso Mosimane Youth Football project.
“I’m not even seeing the vacancy of not being on the pitch. I’m on the pitch with the coaches, I’m watching them, are they doing the right thing.
“It’s hectic. I’m every day at the office, I’m every day at the pitches, every day at the schools, every day at the government offices, so I can’t ask for more. I’m blessed, thank you.”
Will Pitso join Pirates or find another project in the Middle East?
