Police are on the lookout for a tourist from Cape Town who has been reported missing in the Augrabies Falls National Park.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers, the 66-year-old man disappeared after he went for a hike on Friday, 11 April after making a reservation at the park the day before.
As at the time of publishing on Tuesday, 15 April, he had not been located.
‘When he failed to return at 16:30, park rangers became concerned and promptly reported the matter to the Augrabies SAPS. His personal belongings and vehicle were still at the park,’ said Ehlers.
‘A comprehensive search operation was immediately launched into his disappearance.’
Ongoing search effort
According to a SAPS statement, Ehlers added that members from Augrabies SAPS, SAPS Airwing, Upington Search and Rescue Unit, Upington K9 Unit and a drone pilot have joined forces to execute the ongoing search efforts.
Anyone who may have information that could assist in locating the missing person is urged to contact Captain Robert Turner on 082 770 4208, Sergeant Tshepo Marungwana on 084 298 5101 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
‘All information will be handled confidentially,’ concluded Ehlers.
