ULTRA South Africa celebrates 10 years of dance music

The countdown has begun for ULTRA South Africa 2025. This is the continent’s premier electronic music festival, which is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary in style.

On Friday, 9 May, Cape Town’s The Ostrich will host the first leg of this electrifying event. Then followed by the Johannesburg’s Expo Centre at Nasrec on Saturday, 10 May.

ULTRA SOUTH AFRICA’S LINEUP

With a lineup of global icons and local stars, this milestone edition promises to be the biggest and boldest yet.

Since its debut in 2014, ULTRA South Africa has grown into a powerhouse on Africa’s music calendar.

Over the years, it has attracted more than half a million attendees. It showcases unforgettable performances from international legends like Tiësto, Alesso, and Afrojack.

This year’s festival marks a decade of dance music history, celebrating resilience, community, and culture.

TEN YEARS OF ULTRA SOUTH AFRICA

Shaun Duwe, ULTRA South Africa organiser, shared his excitement. “The 10th anniversary of ULTRA South Africa is a celebration of resilience, community, and culture.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve built something extraordinary—thanks to the passion of our fans and the incredible talent who have graced our stages.”

The Main Stage will feature heavyweights like Armin van Buuren, ISOxo, KSHMR, and Martin Garrix. Garrix returns for a full-circle moment after headlining ULTRA SA’s inaugural edition.

LOCAL ACTS TO TAKE THE STAGE

Meanwhile, the RESISTANCE Stage will cater to underground music lovers with melodic techno acts such as Massano and Mind Against.

South African legend Shimza will deliver a special homecoming performance in Johannesburg. The supporting lineup is equally impressive.

Local favourites like Kabza De Small, Maphorisa, DBN GOGO, DJ Lag, Vigro Deep, Da Capo, Culoe de Song, and Dlala Thukzin will bring their unique sounds to both cities.

TICKET PRICES

Johannesburg attendees can also enjoy two additional stages. ‘The Groove Room’ for amapiano and Afrobeats enthusiasts and ‘The Clubhouse’ for cutting-edge electronic beats.

Tickets are flying off the shelves as excitement builds for this landmark event. General admission starts at R995 in Johannesburg and R895 in Cape Town.

VIP tickets begin at R2,000 for both cities, while Johannesburg offers an exclusive VVIP experience starting at R5,500.

Late last year saw record-breaking sales when Rewind tickets—priced at 2014 rates—sold out within minutes.

WORLD-CLASS FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE

Fans are urged to secure their spots soon before tickets sell out completely. ULTRA South Africa is known for its world-class production quality.

Attendees can expect state-of-the-art sound systems, dazzling visuals, and an electric atmosphere that defines the festival experience.

MUSIC AND UNITY

This year’s edition promises to be a celebration of ten years of unforgettable moments.

“We’ve built something extraordinary,” Duwe said proudly. “This year will be a landmark event for us as organisers and for the entire dance music movement in Africa.”

With less than a month to go until ULTRA South Africa lights up Cape Town and Johannesburg once again.

Ultranauts across the country are gearing up for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of music and unity.
