Where to get cheap groceries this Easter weekend in SA

As grocery prices remain high across the country, many shoppers in South Africa are hunting for the best deals to stretch their budgets further, especially during this Easter holiday.

With the long weekend coming, now is the perfect time to compare prices and stock up on essentials at the most affordable retailers.

Which supermarket has the best prices this week?

We compared 16 common household grocery items across four major South African supermarkets -Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, and Woolworths – to find out where you can get the best overall savings.

Here’s how the total cost of the basket stacks up this week:

• Pick n Pay: R826.83
• Shoprite: R864.83
• Woolworths: R874.83
• Checkers: R904.83

Pick n Pay comes out on top as the most affordable option, with a full basket costing R826.84. Shoprite offers a similar basket for R38 more. Meanwhile, Woolworths and Checkers are the most expensive options this week.
